Well hello there,
Thanks for stumbling across my little website in search of some vintage heaven. One of my goals for 2017 was to link my business to a blog so you can all get to know the face behind Cupcake Couture. So, let me introduce myself...
I'm Cara. I'm 28 years old and I love vintage clothing. I first started Cupcake Couture back in 2012 when my love for vintage meant my wardrobe was bulging and my bank balance was shrinking. I found myself buying things even if they weren't my size because I had to have 'that floral tea dress with the matching belt' or 'the sequin top with the huge shoulder pads'. It was then that I realised I needed to share my vintage finds with the world and Cupcake Couture was born.
Being pretty handy with computers I started selling my clothing on a website I created - it was pretty basic and not a lot there but it worked. It was so nice to see people appreciate the clothes I had fallen in love with so many times, I was happy that I was spreading a little bit of joy with each purchase.
About a year into the website, which had grown and even had a search bar by then, I decided to take the next step and delve into the world of vintage fairs. My very first fair was at St. Gemma's Hospice in Leeds, I was so nervous and had no idea what I was doing - I didn't even take a tablecloth. On that first day I learnt so much from other traders and knew going forward I would grow the business and thoroughly enjoy doing more fairs. Afterwards I became a registered trader at Britain Does Vintage & Lou Lou's Vintage Fairs, two of the biggest fair organisers in the country.
Since then the business has gone from strength to strength including being featured on some amazing blogs, articles in the Newcastle Chronicle and becoming a finalist for the Huddersfield Test Town competition. I am so lucky that my little dream is starting to become a big(ger) dream.
And here we are today...this little blog is the next step in the Cupcake Couture adventure. It's a place where I want you to get to know me and where I can share with you my thoughts, plans and my latest vintage finds.
Heres hoping 2017 will top 2016, I'm looking forward to seeing what it brings for both myself and Cupcake Couture.
